We thank Fadahunsi et al for their contribution to the field and their interest in our meta-analysis. In our meta-analysis of 23 studies, we had shown that 1-year mortality is comparable in patients with and without permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation after transcatheter aortic valve replacement.1 One of the articles included in our meta-analysis was a study of over 9000 patients from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons/American College of Cardiology Transcatheter Valve Therapy Registry by Fadahunsi et al.2 Use of the Transcatheter Valve Therapy Registry requires obtaining data from the Medicare database for 30-day and 1-year outcomes.
